Rape accused kills victim's mother-in-law

A rape accused allegedly killed mother-in-law of the victim on Tuesday in village Badasuar under Jajpur town police limits in Jajpur district.

"Police recovered the body of the woman from her house on Tuesday.The body was replete with injury marks on head, ear and other parts. She was working as a helper in the village anganwadi centre. Her son lodged an FIR on Tuesday, alleging that her mother was killed by Nilu Swain of Badasuar village. Two years back, Nilu had raped her daughter-in-law.

He was remanded in judicial custody and recently released on bail. "After being released, Nilu threatened the victim's mother-in-law many times not to depose in the court against him as she was an eyewitness to the rape incident. But she did not pay any heed to it," said IIC of Jajpur town police station A R Mohanty.
